I told all of you Dartmoor travelers that there would be surprises - being caught in the muck and mire is our first one!

Down to the wire now - 3 days to go!

Have fun and just get out there & box!!!

If I remember correctly, Wellies are boots with gaitors on them? Or are they just gaitors? Yes, you'll need them since you will be wading through knee high grass and ferns. Even if you don't fall in a bog, you'll want them to keep you dry.

"Wellies" are just plain old rubber boots - (originally named after the
Duke of Wellington, who designed a prototype - I think I remember that
he was just too impatient to wear the very tight-fitting boots of the
fashionable gents, because they required a valet to put them on & pull
them off: Wellington was in the midst of fighting Napolean and couldn't
be bothered!)

Cheers!

Wellies are tall rubber boots anmd a good idea on the
moor. When I went to Dartmoor my husband went in the
muck up to his hip. Thank God he was able to pull his
leg out. In the split second this happened my heart
was in my throat.
